Ryer Island Pipeline, CA

During the summer of 2018, eTac completed a pipeline inspection and depth of burial survey along the marine section of a 12-inch natural gas pipeline in the Port Chicago area of the San Francisco Bay, California. The pipeline stretches two nautical miles underwater across the Suisun Bay to Ryer Island. An ultra high resolution and ultra high density sonar system was used to produce detailed imagery of the pipeline where exposed. Spans, inflections and hazardous debris were noted as well as scouring areas identified. Near continuous depth of burial, data was acquired to create a three dimensional pipeline alignment across the entire marine section. The level of data detail allowed a separate adjacent decommissioned 8-inch pipeline to be determined and tracked.
