Mission Bay Park Eel Grass Mapping, CA

Mission Bay consists of 27 miles of shoreline with an annual park attendance of 15 million. Recreational boats, storms, and currents had pushed sediment to above survey elevation for safe boater navigation and dredging was needed. eTrac was hired to conduct daily conditional surveys during dredge operations. The dredged material was used to fill other areas that needed re-nourishment within the Bay. The area is home to large populations of eel grass that was dredged. Because of this eTrac conducted eel grass surveys as well to show the change in vegetation since it has a large environmental impact on the area. The eel grass populations were monitored and restored after dredge and re-nourishment efforts were complete.
